President’s Message

Greetings,

The Black Administrators in Child Welfare of Illinois (BACW of Illinois) was formed and incorporated in 2014.The chapter was established to support BACW national efforts within the State of Illinois. Specifically addressing the need for specialized services for Black children and their families, and to press for the employment of Black professionals in responsible administrative positions.

BACW of Illinois is also committed to working in collaboration with state and local human services agencies to reduce disproportionality and address disparate treatment by strengthening the development of families of color. Our intent is to implement lasting changes and cultivate leadership in the child welfare system in Illinois.
It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as President of Black Administrators in Child Welfare of Illinois.

Jacqueline Bright, M.A.A serves as the President of the team, providing visionary leadership and strategic direction.

Miller Anderson, M.S.W

Vice-President

Miller Anderson, M.S.W utilizes their expertise in social work to contribute to the team's success as Vice-President.

Jennie Perkins, M.A.A

Treasurer

Jennie Perkins, M.A.A serves as the Treasurer on the team, overseeing financial matters and ensuring proper management of funds.

Jacqueline Barnes, M.A.A.

Recording Secretary

Jacqueline Barnes, M.A.A. serves as the Recording Secretary, meticulously documenting and organizing meeting minutes and important information for the team.

Dr. Terry Solomon

Parliamentarian

Dr. Terry Solomon is responsible for overseeing parliamentary procedures within the team meetings.

Michael Burns, M.S.W.

Sargent-At-Arms

Michael Burns, M.S.W. serves as the Sargent-At-Arms in the team. He is responsible for maintaining order and security during team meetings and events.

Director

Dr. Jackie Sharp is the Director of the team, leading and overseeing all projects and initiatives.

Advisor

Annetta Wilson serves as an Advisor within the team, offering expert guidance and assistance to colleagues and clients in various matters.

The Black Administrators in Child Welfare course outline was developed by nationally recognized African American leaders in child welfare. The sessions have been carefully curated to address multiple dimensions in child welfare from both a historic and contemporary lens. Note, these sessions are compatible with the child welfare administrative training.
